Fly Tipping

Over the next few years fly tipping is la major rural issue. It is an issue as it is unsafe and unsightly leading to the overall degradation in an area. Fly tipping in areas such as Southey Woods can lead to the decline in use of that area and the loss of a local amenity. It is also a significant cost to local landowners who are responsible for the removal of fly tipped waste from their land.
Why is it going to increase? Just as there was an increase in fly tipping of fridges government policies and technological change can have a direct impact. Two such future examples could be the switch over to digital television and proposals to charge for the collection of domestic waste.
What can we do about it. If you witness flytipping in progress notify the police, otherwise call Peterborough city Council.
